National Exchange Hotel
Nevada City, CA 95959
The National Exchange Hotel is said to be the oldest operating hotel in California, and possibly all of the West. It was established in 1856, and has continued operation except for a brief period of time when it closed down due to fire damage. Witnesses here have reported seeing full body apparitions of men wearing old-fashioned style clothing sitting in the lobby and smoking cigars. This is strange because there is a no-smoking policy at the hotel. A woman's figure has all been spotted wearing a Victorian-style dress gliding through the bar area. Other reports here include the piano playing by itself, strange noises and cold spots.
