Santa Clara House - Carlo Hahn House
Ventura, CA 93001
The Santa Clara House has a couple of names attached to it. It is also known as the Big Green House, Carlo Hahn House or The Tavern, which it operates as now. Rosa is the name of the resident ghost that is rumored to haunt the place. Rosa was an unhappy woman who got forced into marrying a man she didn't love. She started to have an affair with an Italian man who ended up leaving her when she got pregnant. Because of this, she hanged herself from a ceiling beam. Her ghost has been spotted looking out of the round second-story window. Paranormal reports here include unexplained noises in the women's bathroom upstairs and feeling as if someone is pushing you down the stairs.

in the late 70's or early 80's was in upstairs womens bathroom. my friends left first but i stopped at the big mirror(s). I saw a woman with hair up in Gibson girl or bun and she clearly raised her voice and yelled "GET OUT" so I did. told my friends and they told me, yeah, its haunted here.

We frequented the Big Green House in the 70's before moving to Texas in 1980. We just got back from our 1st trip back to California....wish I had known that the name had changed...next trip we will visit for sure...Cathe & Ric Leach

I'm 70 now but worked as a waiter at the BGH in the middle or late 70s. I was under the impression that above the second floor was an attic. Sometimes at night as we closed up we would hear heavy footsteps as if someone were running across the attic. One night as the crew were on the front steps for the bartender and manager to close up I was at midway up the steps (no one behind me) and felt someone push my shoulders from behind so that I fell to the bottom of the stairs. I was still on my feet and unhurt but I am still certain that none of the crew pushed me. They knew me as Dave.
