Stevenson House

This museum once operated as an 1800's boarding house that has seen the likes of author Robert Louis Stevenson, who the house was named after. The home is rumored to be haunted by a former owner, Manuela Giradin. In 1879, her husband died of typhoid fever, and her two grandchildren came down with the disease as well. After being so exhausted trying to care for the children, she caught the disease herself and passed away on December 21st, 1879, but her grandchildren survived. Ghostly events are said to occur around this date and include a nursery rocking chair rocking on its own, the phantom smell of carbolic acid and a woman's apparition in a black dress and a high lace collar.
