Clear lake is a quiet, lonely out of the way place, I ve been there many times and it's one of my favorite get aways. Having heard the legend of the fiddling ghost I set out to see fiddlers green for myself. After visiting the area several times I became accustumed to the long slow treacherous drive and became familiar with the area. Most times not even recalling the legend until one day. Hiking back to my truck after a lengthy hike I was passing by the cabin site and the late afternoon breeze began , adding some sound to an otherwise eerily silent place. I stopped for a moment and turned around to get a last glimpse of the lake and as I stood there I realized I was hearing the distinct sound of a fiddle clear but distant and riding on the breeze. My arms and neck goosebumped as the story of the murdered wife came back to me. I told myself out loud 'what the ,...' as if to stop the hymn but it kept playing, clear but very distant sounding and lonely was what came over me. I'm not a scardey but I returned to hiking at a new invigorated pace. It wasn't a ghost I seen and it was daytime but I believe it was no less creepy then had it been night. I don't think I was alone out there and I am a believer. True and blue
