The effort put on by those behind the Maines Mansion is second to none. This is not a gory, jump out from behind a corner, built for 13 year olds haunt. In the past few years, Maines Mansion has put on a performance in three acts. The players put a lot of effort into what they do. The script always tells a good story. For your money, this is the best haunt in the Greater Sacramento Area. If all you want is to see blood and guts and get startled a few times; stay home, put on Halloween or Devil's Rejects, and take turns hiding behind corners with your housemate. If you want some genuine, albeit wholesome, Halloween atmosphere, go to Maines Mansion donation in hand.
The only criticism I can muster is that sometimes the actors will come out to the line to meet friends and loved ones and break character. It's great that the actors recruit people to come to the show, they should just be sure to stay in character at all times. I can't wait to visit Maines Funeral Parlor this year. |

This house is perfect for Halloween! It's really spooky, and when they decorate it for Halloween, it gets even better! I went the last couple yeasrs and its amazing what the inside of this house looks like. They go all out with the lighting and sound effects. I took my 10 year old daughter. We were a little scared, but this isn't your typical haunted house. There isn't anything gross. More like Disney's haunted house, but with actors. Lots of fun! |

I have gone the last 4 years and every year it gets better. Last year was hysterical and my family and friends had a great time. I tell everyone I come across to go. A great entertaining experience. |

It was a good kid scare. I don't recommend it for adults. Just not scary enough! |
